Tr88s Rs4 B5 MTM Edition. (Lots of pictures)

Hello! i'm a 27 year old Norwegian, i've been lurking around this forum for a while now, but it's time to make a thread on my own. If you see poor english language, keep in mind that i'm a norwegian:)

So almost two years ago i got to realize one of my dreams, by buying myself a Audi Rs4 B5.

The car has got a full history. The car originally was swedish, an older guy owned the car for nearly 9 years. This man lived near Dahlbäck racing which you may have heard of. The car went through several perfomance upgrades before he decided he wanted a full rebuild. When the car had done about 26.000km's the engine was completely taken apart and rebuilded with stronger parts. New bigger turbos was fitted along with other parts like a full mtm exhaust with headers, bigger ic's, injectors, clutch, Auto verdi rods, 044 fuel pump cams, ported heads, bigger inlet pipes++ and a remap by dahlbäck racing.

This car was among the fastest in 2004, or so i've been told.

This car was also fitted with Kw competition v3 coilovers and Magnesium front calippers from audi motorsport. Discs are upgraded rs4 b7 from loba motorsport.

These pictures are from last year's look 10.5"x19" Mrr Groundforce, gf09. ET15. 245/30/19. That set-up completely destroyed the handling of the car, so this year i'm using other wheels:)

Shortly after the season was over (this is a summer car, and it has never seen snow or salt currently at 77.000km) i put the car away in the garage and up on the lift. I got to look closer at some oil leaks and found out that they where coming from one of the turbos. As i was looking at this oil leak i realized that the car was quite dirty underneath, and that some of the bushings in the suspension needed to be changed.

I am a hobby detailer/mechanic, if you add a little OCD with keeping things clean, it didn't take me long to decide; i have to tear down the underside of this car and refurbish it all. So in the following houndred pictures or so i will show the whole process of refubishing the underside of this car.

I also had an oil leak from the gearbox, and when i had the gearbox out i found that a piece of the clutch was missing.. so i finally decided to pull the engine as well

This is where it all started in November 2014

tr88

Worn down bushings in the lower control arms, and the swaybar

I don't like blue silicone hoses, so they are gone! Inlet pipes will be painted black

Front inner fender, years and years of dirt

Gearbox cooling

Slet lenge med å få av den forbanna oljekjøleren nederst. Endte opp med å plukke av oljefilterhuset

All hose connectors will be stainless og permaquick

Never dissasembeled an rs4 before, but it took me a few hours to get to this point

tr88

Everything will be blasted and powdercoated

Rear done!

Yes, a toothbrush!

Quite effective toghether with some degreaser

tr88

That's better

The broken clutch

Washing and painting the transmission. (the leak is fixed)

tr88

Fresh paint

You need good tools to to a good job

A little better:)

Starting to look like something

Glassblasting parts

tr88

Powerwashing the underside of the car, "breaking bad" style

New Clutch 850NM

I've decided to paint the parts myself with Polyuretan paint

Powerflex black series bushings going ing

tr88

Originally i was going to deliver all the parts to be blasted and powdercoated. But i kinda like to do things on my own and learn in the process. So i decided to paint everyting myself. I even made my own paintbooth with a fan to draw out gasses.

Epoxy base coat on steel parts

Here is a before and after shot of my garage. It's a little narrow, so i can't get the doors fully open. But it's a nice place to be when i need to:) The floor has water heating, so it's 21 degrees celsius year round:)

The parts are now painted. I tried to match the grey paint on the Audi ceramic brake calippers, and the colour is much darker in real life than on these pictures

tr88

Bushings in place:)

New parts:)

Let's get the engine back in place

Some pics on detailing the front coilovers

Before

After

More pictures

No need for jacks here

Time to get some heat insulation back on
stbaz

now this is what i call a build thread
tr88

Changing the broken clutch for a new one

New bolts

This exhaust bandage was easy to work with

The nipple on the clutch slave sylinder is made out of plastic, that's useless.. wonder which engineer thougt of that?

tr88

This n75 valve is like 100pounds at my local dealer... It broke ofc.

Everything assembeled

At this point i only had to put the front fender and wheels back on. The engine fired right up. I don't have any more pictures of this.

I also made a little mod to get some more sound out of this thing;)

This year i've done a big modification to my RS.

I've changed the entire ECU with a new one called Maxxecu.

This thing is incredible, there are so much possibilities with this ecu, Launch control and ALS being one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUcB0qGOwUY

Last weekend i had the car on a dyno for the first time, and i got 480hp at the wheels and 580NM at the wheels. I'm quite happy with this and i'm looking forward to trying this out on the track

I'm also running 10x18" Original BBS LM wheels in black, with Federal 595 RsR tires 265/35/18. The wheels where refurbished this winter.

This is incredible. I wish I had the time and space to do this to my car.

Someone has done a nice job of making those Porsche 996 turbo's fit too
stuartx

Credit where credit is due this is great, wished I had the time and space to do what you have done and strip mine to clean like this.

Great, keep up the work.

Brilliant!! It's like you've built a new car.

I would not know where to begin with all that work. I have the space to do that now, but I certainly don't have the knowledge.
BIG UN

Rasss-4

After all that work and you go and get it dirty again

That is what you call a proper build thread
IanH755

Thank you everyone!! It's great getting credit for all that hard work:)

IanH755: Yes, that is correct:) I've never felt such enormous braking power in any car i've ever been in.

I live in a city called Brumunddal. It's about 45 minutes from Lillehammer, where they had the olympics in 94'. And 1.5 hours from Oslo.

I know, it's quite expensive here!
dr.sah

Awesome job.

Never saw KW competition on RS4.
stigissimo

Mine is going for a few year winter sleep and planning to give the same love.
Noggymike

Just SUPERB

Fantastic effort, puts us all to shame!
cochyn

Just: Wow! I take my hat off to you - it  takes real balls to do what you did there - I get nervous just changing the oil on these cars!  Magnificent car you have there. Top job.
andyevo

Love the wheels, what's the spec, size and tyre size please?

Cheers

Spent some time in Stavanger and went on our honeymoon to Bergen.  I would love a road trip round Norway.
tr88

Thank you everyone:)

DR.sah, As far as i know.. This is the only Rs4 with competition coilovers that is approved by the Dmv in Norway. There was one other car, also built by Dahlbäck racing that had the same coilovers, but that car was wrapped around a tree in Bergen a few years back..

You should get on the ferry to Norway with your RS, there are lots of great driving roads (and lots of bad ones) here, and the scenery is beautiful. Google "atlanterhavsveien" and "trollstigen" and of course "lofoten"

Looks awesome! Seems to be in flawless condition! Well done!

Thank you guys:)

Even though it only has done 77k km, it has got some stonechips here and there, so i guess i'll put it in the paint booth next winter. Maybe put Xpel film on it.

Being an enthusiast is Expensive:(

So it's time for an update:

This year i installed Maxxecu in my car and did a retune to see what we could get out of it. The result was 480Whp and 600Wnm. I've also refurbished a set of BBS LM 9.5x18 with Federal RsR 265/35/18. Mounted a cupra lip and a yellow tow thing to complete the whole "Racecar" theme.

Recently had a photoshoot with Andrè Jaskiewiscz who is an amazing photographer.

Here are a few of the photos
