TT RS Remap

Does anyone have any experience of remapping a TT RS. I had mine remapped with a bluefin from Superchips. The results were great but within 3 weeks the ECU completely packed in - ECP light came on, followed by the engine management light. Car was drivable in safe mode then would not restart when I got home.

It is possible that this was just a fault with the car's ECU but I do wonder if the remap caused the fault.

Would appreciate any help/advice as I'm desperate to get the performance back but don't want it breaking again.

Who fitted the Bluefin and do you have comeback with them? Is your ECU now sorted again?

With regards to sorting your car then you want to be speaking with the Forum sponsors really, try MRC in Banbury or Viper on the Isle of Man (he travles to the UK) who should both be able to sort you out with a custom map

Welcome to the forum BTW

Ooops.. should have thought of that actually, good point and a call well made IMO

Thanks for the quick responses!

Bluefin are looking into it but I don't want to become some sort of R&D guinea pig.

Audi put a new ECU in under warranty as the ECU was reset before they collected it - they did ask the question though!

Will give those guys a call but also keen to hear from RS owners to see if they've had a similar issue. Particulary anyone who has bluefin fitted!

Bluefin is a hand held device that has the settings pre-installed. It allows you to upload your factory settings onto the device and install the bluefin so you always have the master.

Sounds crude but looks quite technical and if your car is under warranty then it could avoid problems at the dealership.

+1
Doug

That is really common on the TTRS - most bad tunes will do that, throw a code and/or drop boost back.
Mihnea

Really common issue on the TT-RS, it's called by "tuning protection". We know how to get around this

MRC - sounds good. I'll give you a call. Have to say and for anyone doing their research, the guys at Superchips/Bluefin are a shambles. Just had an email back saying they were aware of the problem but resetting to factory and remapping normally fixes - shocking! Can't believe they are selling remaps in that way. They said the problem kicks in at 1000km. Could have been left stranded.

Anyway, another issue. Now I have the car back from Audi, when I hit the sport button the exhaust is barely audible. I have the sports exhaust fitted and it was seriously loud before - even on factory ecu settings - any ideas? I'm going to call them but would like to in the knowledge that it is likely caused by the new ecu settings being tamer.

Can I request some video footage from your car next time it's on a rolling road? Good luck in getting it sorted. If it was my car Mihnea would be the only person hooking up to it.

BlueFin is a superchips device.  I'd be in touch with their head office in Birmingham for a refund.  Then speak to one of the proper boys for the new map - Viper / MRC / TT Shop etc and a check that there isn't any damage as a result of the 'bad?' map.

I had this on my car when I was running a custom map and my friends sportec mapped car. Sportec got around this a long time ago now once it was brought to light, and I changed my software to revo.

BTW doug @ MRC, you guys should start advertising on VAGOC, there seems to be some interest in your maps etc there.

Mihnea your name was also mentioned on vagoc, are you and mrc affiliated?

I can also vouch for the TTShop, they know their stuff, and justin is super helpful

Ahhhh sportec and now revo hand in hand with revo's newest personal ...............I will say no more.   My 6 has been remapped by viper highly recommeneded but there is also mrc and amd not used either of the last 2 but others have

The newest, or at least one of the new programmers/mappers at Revo is from Superchips.

Ok, been speaking to a few people and looking to do this properly...full milltek, filter, custom map. Will let you know of the results.

Anyway, anyone have any ideas how much my insurance is likely to go up. Keen to get an idea before phoning them in case it is ludicrous and I decide to wing it.
derdle

^^ You must not wing it - declare your mods honestly otherwise you are not insured.
graemep

Allow for a 20-30% premium for the remap.

Depending on the insurer, you could get lucck and they may not charge for filters and exhaust.

Unreal, spoke to my insurance company (One Quote Direct - underwritten by Aviva) and there will be no charge for a remap, air filter + exhaust. Policy runs out in mid Dec so total result.
