TTRS Clutch - Slipping with c.450bhp

Mods:

Forge Intercooler
Full Miltek, 100 cell race cat
Pipercross filter
Revo Stage 2 map

Long story cut short, I took my TT RS into Revo to get a map upgrade. It was on boost 7 but Kev at Revo did some tweaks to allow it to run at 9! (It was data logged on 7 at 440bhp. Anyway, results are incredible on the new map, however, the clutch is now slipping in 3rd and 4th gear on full throttle at around 3-4k revs. 1st, 2nd just bite but pulling through the rev range I can tell it's the clutch is spinning slightly.

So, is my clutch knackered? The car has done 18k miles, 11k on the mods above.

Or, does anyone know of issues with the clutch struggling to handle that kind of power - not sure of what it is now it's on 9 but it's a noticeable step up.

Are there any uprated clutches available? Cost? Worth it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

John

440 bhp, I doubt it

boost 7 is faster than boost 9 also

What do you doubt? That the clutch would be slipping OR that the TTRS is making 440bhp?
BennyBoo

I thought they made 4m PS as standard..?

I'd doubt the clutch is slipping at 440, unless it's had a very hard life..

Its the torque in the higher gears that will be making it slip. Time for an upgrade.

there's not a clutch on the market that can handle the power the TTRS produces best get used to it slipping

I doubt it has 440Bhp unless it's running a hybrid turbo.

It's just a basic map and a Miltek still with a CAT in place.

be lucky to get 420Bhp let alone 440BHp.

It's a custom Revo stage 2 map. Larger Forge intercooler. Miltek is race cat and single, larger downpipe, not the twin downpipe on the earlier milteks.

Hybrid turbo is quoting 500+ bhp.

what does revo say?

as I say 420BHp, Miltek system offers no gains imo may even lose you BHp lol.

you must have been riding the clutch as loads of cars out there with 20k miles and no clutch issues, just buy a new oem one and get back enjoying the car.

Milltek with hi-flow cat must give more power than stock exhaust, can't see how it would give less. Most who decat or fit hi-flow cat see 10-15bhp increase over just a map with secondary cat delete.

I do agree with you that 440 seems high for those mods, though.

You can tell this is an MRC forum....back to VAGOC for me, I think.

We ( qst ) did a 472bhp upgrade on a TTRS, some time after the clutch starting slipping. We supplied a Sachs uprated organic pressure plate and drive plate. 630 incl. vat & carriage. This was fitted by his local Audi garage, to my knowledge its been fine since. Sach do a sinta clutch but no good for road use !!

Thanks, very helpful. Only seems to be spinning if I plant my foot in 4th from low revs so I'll see how it goes on the OEM for now.

Thats ok, if you do decide you need one then you can call us on 01444 451542. Normally available in a couple of days. We can fit it for you or just supply.

What work was involved in generating that sort of output?
