Apparently we are in for an alternative F1 championship ...

F1i
Doug

It's all going tits up.

maybe 2 races at silverstone next year!
jaytee

if it does go tits up and a lower budget series is created maybe we`ll see some `sport` return to F1!
Doug

i just want to see cars with 2000bhp that eat tires up in a few laps - cars you do not master.
jaytee

i`m with you on that one doug.....full ground effects too!
derdle

If we want a budget capped type F1....we already have it in the shape of the A1GP series don't we?
jaytee

oh yeah, forgot about that! turned out popular....has anyone ever watched an A1GP or has it faded into insignificance
derdle

I think I watched one race.... a long time ago!
jaytee

i never have, isn`t posty pat  winning that series closely followed by roger the cabinboy....

the same will happen if the f1 division occurs 2010, there will still be the top teams generating shedloads of cash through tv and sponsership deals
jeffw

Ireland (Adam Carrol) won the A1GP championship.  The A1GP cars do sound amazing (Ferrari Engines) but it can get processional as they all have the same chassis & engine package.

Supposed to prove how good or bad the drivers are?
jaytee

modern f1 have had that problem for years and theres a huge difference in spec and budget.

surely the proposed/enforced split would make it more processional?
derdle

Apparently Ecclestone is going to make a statement later....

...and Eddie Jordan has said that only Ecclestone's resignation will resolve the problems!

Bl**dy Jordan, if it wasnt for hand outs from Bernie over the years he would not of lasted for more than 5mins cheeky git.

More like 'spank my bottom Moseley' has to promise to resign in October.

Update: The FIA is threatening to sue the breakaway group - one of the grounds is for breaking competition law. So operating a monoply isn't anti-competitive then?
jeffw

Brillant.  The F1 teams are the reason there is F1 racing....and they are the ones that spend the money.  So the FIA, who don't contribute at all, try and force a major rule change on the sport without any agreement with the teams who then get the hump.

So the FIA now think they can win by taking legal action against the teams to force them to compete in F1.....If it was my 100 Million or so I would be looking for a different arena to spend it in.
derdle

Just heard a legal boffin on radio 5 say that the grounds cited by the FIA are "nebulous".

I'm sure your right however Total B******t (could of been nebulous?) came through my speakers.

I was involved in the sport during the FISA / FOCA wars and Bernie was the guy who got everything worked out for us - top guy if you think different you have no idea basically, and he has gone back in to the operating theatre as he has no choice.

Just as mad dog Jean-Marie Balestre had to go in the early eighties then Max has to go, his personnel life which has become public knowledge is totally inconsistent with a multimillion pound sport. A sport that will need to attract not only drivers from all cultures, but also female drivers as well, after all this is not 1980 when this all hit the fan the first time.

So hopefully a new dawn is on the horizon and the role of the FIA will kick back and they all can go kick ass on tarmac.

Mosley will go, Bernie will play around with the pot a bit, the teams will get a bit more input into the new concorde agreement and it will all be done and dusted by September. No breakaway series, no  40m cap.

I agree, Maxy Super Drooper will get boned this season, however 'lil Bernie Ecclescakes will turn it around and there will be unison.

I believe the word nebulous in this context should be swapped for estopped ie. the FIA would be estopped from bringing alleged charges
jeffw

F1 is back together.....someone got between Bernie and his cash machine.  Mosley agrees to go and the teams agree to cut spending to 1990s levels in 2 years (whatever that means)
derdle

Mosley said he'd stand down in 2004 ... except he didn't!

"1990 levels" - interesting statement that...and seems to be open to a lot of interpretation.

You have to love the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrew...09/06/formula_1_woke_up_this.html

They have the people to produce this kind of content
Ghost

Your so right.

And although Mosley (Lord of Darkness) may resign as president he will still remain to be in both a powerful and influential position in the FIA.

We just don't need another frog as an FIA president, especial not one very pally with the LOD.
jeffw

Looks like it is on again

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/76777

Max and Bernie can't leave it alone can they...
MarkB

Quote:
Mosley has already told FOTA that he is considering standing again as president in October in light of what he believes were deliberately misleading comments made to the media about a deal they reached last month to avert the threat of a breakaway.
