UrS4 respray

So my car is 14 years old and it has spent all it's life in London. Now I have it I think some TLC is needed so it has gone in to the body shop today ( a little later than planned but I've been so busy).

The bumpers are damaged, a dent in the boot where it has been backed in to something and the bottom of the bonnet has a little rust from stone chips.
Not bad as alot of cars this age would be a pile of rust by now.

I'm having a full respray with some new front and back bumpers.

I stripped the car today and I felt bad but it will all be worth it in the end

I'll keep you posted and you will see it at Combe on the 26th.
Parptoot

Just what I was hoping for, I look forward to seeing it in all its glory at Castle Combe, in standard trim I hope!
TimG007

I couldn't possibly say!! I'll give you a hint, the colour will be a small bit different
Parptoot

Flat black? that could look good on it.
TimG007

Sadly not my friend. It will stay the standard colour but with some added black. I don't like the way the car currently looks in the sun, it looks grey. This is because there is a white pearl in the paint so we are having a play round with the standard colour to make it a little darker. The bodyshop has it's own paint mixing system so we can mix it and if I'm not happy then we can mix it some more. I'll be having some fun with it later.

Now the car is stripped, today will be spent repairing the damage to the boot and getting rid of the parking dents in the doors and rear quarters.

Monday will be masking and Tuesday / Wednesday the paint will go on.
TimG007

It didn't look that bad but on closer inspection this is what 14 years of dents looks like.
This is all down to other people in car parks!!! Doesn't it make you mad
mikeyquattro

Are you going to have it ready for combe?
TimG007

Yeah. It's having 10 hours spent on it tomorrow and the paint is going on on Tuesday.
quattrokid

HEY Tim,

I was just thinking about this, this week while on holiday in the WR quattro!!!

looking forward to seeing it back on the road, well done and I am sure it willlook the bizz:)
Parptoot

I'm still jealous that you managed to get this for so little money!
It's going to look great!
quattrokid

oh.... remember to refurb the rims as well !!
TimG007

In total over 50 dents and deep stone chips have been repaired. Tomorrow the whole car will be gone over with P320 then masked and primed ready for paint.

I'll be refurbishing the wheels but there is not the time to get them done for the weekend. However I am still looking for a set of 18's that I like.
MarkB

Looking forward to seeing it finished. Should look great with fresh paint.
TimG007

Thanks Mark. And the best thing is I wont have to clean it for this weekend
TimG007

This was last night so when I go down today I'll see in paint ready to be fitted up. I can't wait
Parptoot

For me the worst thing about not being able to come this weekend is missing this being finished, what a shame! Another time maybe then?
TimG007

Shame you can't make it. I'll post some finished pics after Combe.
quattrokid

come on Tim.... a week has passed and not a sniff!!

bet its worth the wait though

oh by the way , did you change over the headlight washer stalk to a rear stalk to stop you washing the lights everytime you wash the screen?
CliveH

Yes, Tim - any updates?
TimG007

Sorry guys, I've been so busy this week. I'll get some pictures up later.
TimG007

This was 6.30 in the morning when it rolled out the body shop and the sun was coming up. It took an all nighter to be there at combe but worth it
TimG007

quattrokid

hmm!!!  undecided about the body kit T.B.O!!

bet your delighted to have it back on the road Tim!!
dest

The best wheels for it would be some early S8 18" Avus, then you can keep the standard look but have the bigger size
TimG007

Really glad to have it back but it was very hard to drive after running round in my MK 2 GTi, the Audi felt massive. I'm still not sure about the body kit to be honest!!!!!
Some mornings I love it other mornings I'm not sure. I'm thinking I'll prob keep it on for about a year and then swap it for a set of A6/S6 bumpers as they are smooth and don't have the black plastic inserts.

I should be starting a new job in the next few weeks so this won't be my daily drive. I'll prop get an A4 S-line TDI but I'm looking at a few other VAG cars aswell. So some engine mods will be on the cards!

I'm still not sure about the wheels. If I get an A4 it will have the 19 inch RS4 wheels so I'll put them to see how they look. I like the S8 wheels but they also did a set of 18inch multi spokes on the A8/S8 so I might just have to get a few sets and see what I like.
DavidT

I think it looks very good Tim, I'm sure it will grow on you as well
TimG007

Thanks Dave.

I have some plastic RS4 style mesh to go in before the October and I'm going to have a sticker made up for the number plate to move it to it's rightful place. With a new set of wheels I think it will look a whole lot better
