We're all being conned, it took him less than 7 minutes to do it!!
calibra_se8
It's a more involved job on the S/RS4 also, the p/s pump is in the way of one of the water pump bolts + all the extra charge pipes etc. you have to remove.
I didn't notice him loosening the cam pulleys and re-tightening them once timed up in that video?

^^^ Phil really knows what he's doing, he did mine for me ( with a bit of hinderence and copperslip!! ). I would recommend him to anyone. My car goes like fcuk now since it has been done .Write up with pics of it to come soon.
Thread will be called " TIPEX Timing" Stay well away from main dealers in Glasgow!!!!!! We laughed at it it was that bad!!!
He is a top bloke as well, and many thanks to him and his better half ,and " Nutmeg" for putting up with me

Cheers John It was only 2 months ago now P.S e-mailed you, better stay on topic!

I didn't see him use a crank pin or use a puller on the cam shaft pulley .....
adamss24
Loads of unnecessary work there and as the others said, no losening of the camshaft pulley, no crank bolt and he did not spin the engine by hand after the cambelt was fitted- tipical school boy error ! Last one i've done was for a £100 labour and it took me 4 hours on my drive ! I do them for 450 supply and fit and they include genuine thermostat and seals, water pump and a full SKF/Contitech or genuine belt kit with all the gubbins...
missmouse
he never came across any famous Audi seized up bolts either!
I also thought this can be done without degassing A/C?
He removes many unnecessary parts, he doesn't lock the crankshaft with a crank lock pin during the process, and most of all he doesn't unbolt/pull the pulleys before releasing the timing belt tensioner.
Beware guys, this is NOT the right way to replace a timing belt. That car, if VagCom'ed would probably be a good few degrees out of timing. Mine, done in the proper way show 0°/0° degrees of deviation.

We need to give it some credit thoug as with the car in the service position the video would be hard to watch !

Sorry guys, i misunderstood noodles here.
I thought he was referring to the guy of the video, but he was talking about calibra_se8 (John in real life).
I'm sure John knows how to perform a proper timing belt job, and my comment was not related to him in any way.
