wheel size

hi all

ive been a member years back when i had my b5 s4 which i sold in 2013, i have recently bought my self a b6 s4 ( needed a toy again)  lol but i it has curbed wheel quite badly if im honest so im either gonna have them refurbished or possibly change them all together so i was wondering if anyone knew if i was for example to put on a set of 8.5" at the front and and say 9.5 at rear would it mess with the quattro system and has anyone done it and does it create issues or no???

thanks a lot in advance for any advice

this is your friend! whether its advised or not in theory if the rolling radius is the same you should be ok! the balance of grip etc may be an issue if you went too extreme...

WHAT ! ! ! ! NO NO NO........It will mess up the Quattro System, all four wheels must have the same rolling circumference or you will constantly have a differential between the front and rear wheels, which will damage the transmission or diffs and although the diameter is the same, due to the width of the rear tyres this will also increase the rolling circumference. Go the same width all round. If you feel the rear wheels don't fill the arches enough, then your better off going with a "Quality" spacer.

DON'T DO IT.

I had 8 and 9 inch on my r32
I had staggered porsche wheels on my first s4
I had staggered audi wheels on my rs4

All were on long term and I had no issues at all.
I just made sure I had slightly lower profile on the rear to.account for the extra width as to keep.rolling diameter as close as possible

I'm not saying it's the right thing or the wrong thing to do to avoid pointless forum debates however it's what I done and it was fine for me

Fine as long as tyres are same rolling radius, wheels don't have to be exactly the same. I agree though simply so you can swap wheels around if need be.

Exactly - They should be the same rolling radius ! ! !

Yeah but you said wheels must be the same, they don't. Only the rolling radius. You could fit 17in to the front and 20in to the rear of you wanted as long as tyres are the same radius.

Agreed, same rolling radius is the important thing.

Sorry if I confused the issue.

thank you guys much appreciated I'm not sure if ill stick with standard or switch it up a bit my first s4 had porsche wheels with spacers and they worked fine so may go with the spacer idea on the rears to fill it out a little ....  thanks a lot
