Wow - Seriously, Hats Off!

I would just like to say that I was extremely impressed with Adrian Flux this morning (thank you Marcus).

My renewal was £608 but I after mentioning how cheap the Aviva quote that I had just obtained was, Marcus came back with a renewal of £321 which I thought was fantastic.

I will add though that initially he said that the renewal price was 'their best' and that they couldn't do any better, so if it wasn't for me trying to haggle that would have been it... bit sneaky guys! It always bugs me, I mean why not just give me the better price in first place?

Anyways, the fact that I would rather be with Flux than Aviva will probably still seal the deal.

Good price!
Will give them a go in August.
But yeah, it's just business, to get what you can I suppose. Lots of companies will do things like that, not just insurance brokers.

I was with Flux for years until very recently.
They took the proverbial with the automatic renewal (over £1000 with 13yrs NCB from the previous £600ish!) then couldn't get within £200 of the cheapest price I found on the comparison sites (which was slightly less than I paid last year).

Money grabbing bazzards of the highest order IMHO.

Good riddance if that's my thanks for 10 years of claim free business.

Maybe you're just not very good at negotiating?

How can they justify reducing their "renewal" price from £608 to £321 though?! Would avoid purely for the fact they are trying to pull a fast one and extort money
barryrs

Hope you don’t have to make amendments to your policy in the next 12 months.

I think (from what I have figured) that they will only attempt to beat the renewal if you have had a better quote elsewhere. Like others are mentioning, if you don't dispute the renewal then it will automatically renew.

Renewal prices are always shite anyway though, best to ignore them!
How much was a NEW quote with Aviva compared to a NEW quote with AF?

Less than half and with a few free months chucked in.. but last year Aviva's incompetance cost them my business.. they are useless feckers tbh.

I found myself going back and fourth like a bloody yoyo from Adrian Flux to Chris Knott.....

Let's see how Chris Knott compare to Fluxy this year... watch this space!

Yeah, that'll be it.

I feel so inadequate.

This is precisely what Adrian Flux did to me last year.  Ethically, to me thats a case of F### Off rather than Hats Off.  As Hiltoa states, it doesn't exactly make you feel like a valued customer, knowing that you would have paid the vastly inflated cost if you hadn't challenged it.  In my case I went with Sky who had provided the excellent lower quote which Flux offered to match when I rang to cancel my renewal.

As I mentioned, that does bug me and I agree with you, but the final price imo makes up for the lack of customer value.
xs2man

I just called them on the back of this quote and they did a very good price for me.

I than called my old insurer, Sky, who were nowhere near.

Then Greenlight, who beat Adrian Flux by £1, but with a lower excess, and while I usually pay for my insurance outright, they did offer a very attractive rate for paying it up.

Sorry Flux, think I might have to see you next year (possibly).
Tony K

Flux/hic have just lost me to sky. Couldn't even get anywhere near skys quote. 4 years with hic aswell.
barryrs

Price matching gets on my tits; its an excuse to be lazy with your competitive pricing imo.

I picked up a new camera at the weekend and the guy in comet couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t buy it from him when he would price match John Lewis. Im sorry but if a company is going to make an effort to get my business by offering a competitive price from the outset im not going to take your “price match” offer.

Meant I got wet walking back to John Lewis but it’s the principle.
Bison

Well Green Light, Sky are a million miles away for me... will try Chriss Knott tomorrow and if they can't beat the Flux price then I will stay with them I guess, either that or Aviva.
jockthedog

You should probably not let them know that you are sharing all this on the forum.

Or maybe DO let them know. Maybe that way they will stop trying extortion, and start being competitive from the outset, if they knew that a whole community of insurance buyers are watching their every move.

Too right - exactly what I was trying to get at above - good on you for going back to John Lewis.
Ian_C

The opposite this year, Sky renewal more than I was hoping so I spoke to them last this morning after speaking to the other three forum endorsed brokers first.  Flux came up best, Sky wouldn't match without it in writing, so morally went back to Flux who had quoted it straight up.  So credit to Tim @ Flux.
