Hi Guys,

Viper Tuning has a new product

This is very simple device that allows you to map your own car!

Basically it allows you to read your own stock map from the car and upload a new modified, Viper Tuning stage 1 for example into your car...

Features:
- Capable of storing 3 Maps
- Change maps as often as you like
- Take the unit with you between VAG cars (must take current car back to stock file)
- Read and remove DTC's

Here is an idea of process involved,

1. Plug the device into your car and read your current ECU map
2. Download the map on to your computer and email it to us
3. We will check the software revision you have on your car and email our stage 1 map back to you
4. You upload the map from your computer on to the device as MAP2
5. Now you can upload the Viper Tuning Stage I map in you’re in your own time and enjoy the extra power!

The unit also allows you to read DTC (trouble codes) from your ecu! this can help diagnose problems if you having any and also allow you to reset these...

Map3 can be used for a number of things, ie custom race fuel map, track day special, Valet map (low boost, low rpm limit), immobiliser map that stops the car starting (in case you go away for a period of time and leave the car on the drive)

Of course with any turbo charged car I would advise a good service and pressure test first.

Interesting, any chance of being able to switch on the fly in the future?

I have a different device that will allow two maps to be changed instantly between each other at the flick of a switch, even while driving (on private road of course )

So, Yes

be good if it could be routed to a switch on the dash.  but an electronic boost controller can do that?

Prices, I am going to subsidise these within the price of the map for a short time, but they are probably going to be around 150+vat otherwise…

Rich, it will not give any extra performance over the actual chip, this is a means of getting the map on to the car in a nice easy fashion

Darren, the map switching hardware could be routed to a dash switch no problem and where this will excel over a boost controller is that it will be a completely different map, so full control over every aspect rather than just boost …

Guys, any other kind of maps you can think of then let me know, I have a couple of ideas for the immobiliser map, for example, allow the car to start for a second then stall? This would give the impression that the car is faulty as opposed to an immobiliser in action ...

I have an idea for a rather useful map!

What happens is.... when the driver turns the key - the car starts fine. When he pulls away it seems smooth and torquey. It accelerates smoothly and without fuss.. BUT !!!! When he floors it he gets the shock of his life when it delivers 800bhp.

That's it really.

Can I have one of those please?

Just the valet mode. If you have that much control over the map then you can map the maximum torque requested, as well as the boost. I'd love to have that.

HaHa! i think that map would cost a bit more than 150+vat!

Rich, i think this idea of a switch to change maps on the fly is a good one.

also map3 for an immobiliser is a good one as well.

maybe map1 could be done for max power/torque for a blast then maybe a map for mega good fuel economy for when you want to just pootle about and maybe save some money on fuel? don't know if that would basically mean a rather dull and crap drive but some people might want it?

could you do a map for say when using a meth kit and not using one?

this all sounds pretty awesome mate....i like what you are doing!

i will be in touch shortly to discuss options when my car is ready as i like the idea of a switch on the dash etc.

Ash

I think that the thief map should lock all the doors once in, play Cliff Richard's "bachelor boy" full blast while tuning the telly into "we buy any car dot com" and simultaneously sending an SMS to the old bill telling them to look out for the S/RS with a mad person inside trying to commit suicide.

They all will Ash, £150ish is the additional price for the hardware once Rich's introductory offer expires.

Does sound like a fantastic piece of kit though.
