Just wondered if any of you lot use these products on your car windscreens etc?

If so, what are the results like and how often do you re-apply

Cheers

Mike

I've used Rain-X for years.

It works really well and I tend to re-apply every 3-4 months as you don't use huge amounts each time.

I used it on my UR years ago and followed my dad on holiday in the pouring rain. When we stopped of for a break during the journey, he asked if my wipers were broken as I'd not used them!!!

Guess that would be a good place for a trial! 1/2 and 1/2?

Not always although I have done in the past. It's quite hypnotic watching the water beads moving round the windows!!

I did recently put some on my wife's friends Primera rear window as her wiper  had packed in. It worked reasonably well clearing the water from the glass, although because the water beads, it's still easier to see through the window.

It did take me a few attempts to get the knack of applying it properly, but once you do its ace!!

It's really a case of not using too much product as you need to wait for it to dry before cleaning it off. If you use too much, it just ends up as a greasy mess and takes forever to dry/clean off.

And make sure the glass is spotless first.

Not sure on that one. I stuck with Rain-X because it was the original rain repellant and it's always worked perfectly for me.
I didn't see the need to change even though there are cheaper products that may well work just as good.

I use Rain-X for years too. Really good stuff till it starts wearing out as it gets the screen a little streaky imo. Easy fix though with 5 mins work! Many times find driving with the wipers off much better then when they are on.
