Decided to scrap the B5 and build a Twin engined v6tt Rear engined B6...

No only joking! Its my new motor. I was about to build my S4 block with RS4 heads, pistons, forged rods etc to put me on as I had always wanted a full RS4 motor in the long run. After carefully considering what id spend on rings and bearings and other bits i decided it was time to take the plunge.

Longblock RS4 AZR engine (got her on the tools again)...

Cant use it with dirt on it so i made some blanking plates to protect it while i clean it...

Before...

I took the sump pan off so i can clean it properly and do the oil pick up while I'm there etc...

Everything cleaned ready to go back on...

This won't do...

As she sits bare right now. Water pump and everything had to come off to get the water manifold out...

Cant wait.

Always. Like most things Id like to see how far i can push it ha. No rush to keep on at it.

I will have to just keep the RS6 blowers standard this time round as funds wont allow any more at the moment. Plus i just want to try enjoy it this summer.

Then save for some decent manis, niall downpipes, another clutch etc and then play with the turbos next time round.

I've got a 3.0 ltr crank but that will be the round off mods after that im guessing.

You should have made blanking plates for where the cam covers were too!

Right I don't if any of you witnessed my rant / pledge on facebook but in a new years resolution type of fashion... ive decided im going to pull my finger out of my bottom and get cracking on this again.

Not bothering to make time for it and also using the excuse of lack of funds has meant its done about 5 miles in the past 12 months (on the back of a truck).

I've got god knows how much money in piles of bits waiting to go on but i've been holding out as i've been wanting to go full hog and open up the motor.

But no more procrastinating i've got enough to throw something together so i can enjoy it by the time some spring weather arrives. Anything further can happen later as its not the end of the world pulling the motor again.

So here i am back at bucket 'o' RS4 loom.

First I Thought i might as well make some use of the 2x Twelves and upgrade the work hifi so i've got some serious sound to help me power through it...

New loom laid out how it needs to go in...

Got approx half the old loom out...

More in the next few days. If you don't see any progress please feel free to chime in and give me some shit / motivational pep talk.

Managed to keep to my word day 2 lol did a couple more hours on it.

Dashboard crashbar type job out. For info once the console and dash are off its big nuts down side off A pillar. Visible bolts along the front. Steering column x4 bolts and one in the pedal bracket. Then one hidden in the scuttle tray accessed from the engine bay that youll see coming up through into the cabin. Few screws and nuts in the loom connections, free it of loom that runs along it and it should just pull out.

Heaterbox is fairly easy removed then if you ever need todo matrix. Few fixings from inside the cabin, remove coolant system feed and return, aircon feed and return held in by one bolt under the pollen filter. About a million various electrical connectors all over it and then pulls towards you.

Then your left with this. Few more feeds from the bay and wings to remove tomorrow and should be out...

Would it not be a good idea to change that heater matrix now regardless of its condition ?
I mean it is coming up to 17+ years old .
