Would it not be a good idea to change that heater matrix now regardless of its condition ?
I mean it is coming up to 17+ years old .

Was going to suggest that too, after having to replace a heater matrix on a 3 year old Seat recently!

I didn't even strip the old car down that far when I dismantled her, as it seemed like too much work getting the dash fully out.  Good effort!

I was thinking this yesterday. I couldnt not really knowing my luck It would pop the day i put coolant back in it. Plus its got a hairline crack on the pipe underneath where the rubber feed pipe goes as its gone brittle.

Does anybody know how much a gen one is?

Couple of questions about whats meant to go under the rear seat bench. Whats the new black plug to the right of the red plug. Yaw sensor? And is the big one something todo with traction control?

Yeah. Think it's combined yaw rate and acceleration. Bolts solid to two m6 threads.

Time to wheel this puppy back out and get stuck in. Not going full hog this time so motor is staying together to get things moving so just going to get it back in one piece and only a little spruce on the way...

First to sort this chocolate cam issue out...

Cams out, Followers follow...

Oil pump off. Just to check things, clean up, get ready for gasket...

Couple of hours more today. Slow and steady wins the race. After a quick shotblast of the oil pans shoved them in the trusty parts washer with a few other bits...

Oil pan back and pump back on...
