Correct!

Mk1 S3 were only built from 1999 onwards……….so epic fail there!

This sort've stuff is rampant over here (Ireland) The amount of 2003 'RS4s' is really amazing.
I remember seeing one in a service station – 'give it a rev mate' I said. He just managed an awkward laugh and shuffled off!

Judging by the high number on the reg id guess it was an import but having said that i have had two S3s and as far as i was concerned they were not built in RHD in that year.

My brothers old S4/my track car is an R-reg S4 with a build date in mid-late '97.

They dont exist here that early, it was middle of '98 before we got them in the UK, but it was a german import.

Maybe similar with the S3?

Update  Bumped into that S3 last night, same place, shopping centre car park, this time caught him driving in and parking up………..well, oh dear me …….
the unmistakable clak clak clak of our friend the oil burner…..now, being the good forummer that I am, I felt duty bound, once the young gentleman had disappeared in the shopping centre, to pop over and see exactly what's what. Well well well, this country never ceases to amaze. Quick check of the tax disc and engine particulars showed this was truly a one off!
engine 1896cc or 1.9 8v Tdi pushing out a neck snapping 108bhp!
Now I can't talk, I had a pimped out Mk 3 Golf 1.4 CL be-decked in near full GTi spec with 18'' Kahn rims.
But what gets me is to go to this level of detail on this 'S3', surely you'd be better off saving the money that it cost to create this fake, save a bit more and get the real thing!

Doesn't a proper S3 have wider bodywork as well? Subtle but definitely wider.
