Audi Tradition brought two cars from their collection to the UK for AITP7 (August 2015).

Some of you will have seen the cars at the show and there are photos are in the AITP thread/galleries.

However I thought these deserved highlighting as they are not to be overlooked given their rarity.

I may have this wrong, but I think the green avant is unique with that colour and the saloon one of just two officially built.

Yep cricket green wasn't a standard paint option for the RS2 was a rare option in itself on selected Coupe and Avants.

There was a guy called Lee who was involved in MRC in the very 1st days who had an S2 Avant in this colour but never ever seen an RS2 in it, was gobsmacked at the show.

Very lovely!!

The Avant is certainly a unique colour, never seen than one before.

The story goes that there were 4 x RS2 Saloons built, The one above for the Museum, 1 for Mr Piech himself and 2 were sent to the Arab Emirates to high end Audi customers (you know those rich enough to buy a fleet of A8's etc).

The avant I am told is the only one produced in that colour.

There are a few versions of how many saloons there were, but 2 is the official version I think.

I think the only people that know the official details/numbers were audi themselves. I heard there was 3 built, so there's another different total! Lol!!

They were a pair of amazing cars though, the avant had only done 20 thousand km's!

It's not an Avant it's an RS2....................

Avants refer to this in the S2 world

In this context I am comfortable with my use of terminology. We are talking RS 2 and need to distinguish body type.

RS2 came in a singular body type based on the production S2 Avant

I don't think I have ever seen a S2 saloon let alone an RS2 based one.

If this were not the case, the saloon above would be rather less impressive

306 S2 Saloons (ABY model) made for the South African market.  Never sold in the UK, although one has found it's here I believe.  RHD obviously.

I heard that 3 saloon RS2's were built, but CJ told me that so I wouldn't take any notice of that....
