Custom Rear Diffuser
Some of you may already be familiar with my Widebody S4, which also featured in AudiTuner magazine a few issues back.
Well, based mainly on the subsequent feedback and interest shown by other owners, I've been investigating ways to manufacture the widebody arches in kit form, along with the custom rear diffuser.

Purpose of this post is to gauge interest in the rear diffuser in particular:

I've got UK-based automotive professionals lined up to design and manufacture the parts to OEM quality, for straightforward fitting using the standard fixtures and locating clips.
In short, it's intended to be a top quality product that's very easy to fit as a direct replacement part, to compliment the styling of modified cars in particular, without being too aggressive.

Cost wise, I'm expecting it to work out at around £395 +VAT and shipping.

What do you think?
If there's enough interest, then production could begin in as little as a few weeks…

EDIT: Added poll to collect feedback

It can be supplied primed ready for painting, so can be painted any colour (or combination of colours) you like!
When I get the time, I was hoping to photoshop a few combinations to see how they look (e.g. silver and black).
I did one yesterday in metallic blue (see the FB page for that, if you're interested).

If it's to match the bodywork colour, then it may be best for the paintshop to blend it in with the surrounding areas anyway, to ensure a good match.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
So I'm hearing "like the product, don't like the price".
In which case, begs the question - what would you consider a realistic "right" price for this...?

Personally,i shouldn't be running a b8 S4,money wise! So i would probably be out at £200! But i would say a lot would be interested at £250-£300.

Wish it was viable at that price point, as it would make it all very straightforward!
For the quality I'm after (and that these cars deserve, IMO), likely production quantities and to design/manufacture in the UK, the costs do go up somewhat, unfortunately.

That said, basic economies of scale obviously mean that sufficient interest (translating to sales), would mean the price could adjust accordingly...

I would be interested if it would fit straight onto my 2010 S4 B8 Avant. Could it be supplied in gloss black? so it could go straight on the car. I think £395 + vat then plus paint shop costs for painting/fitting could make it an expensive mod'.

I like the diffuser and at that price compared to other out there this is a steal. Especially as it's choice to have it painted in what colour or have it hydro dipped. I don't think for the quality and the fact it's a direct replacement that you could buy better.

Thanks for the feedback Lee.
Yes, it would be a straight fit onto your 2010 S4 B8 Avant.

You raise a good point about the finish.
Although I wouldn't rule anything out completely at this stage, I did think long and hard about this and, although I would anticipate most people opting for a variant of black, also felt it important to recognise the value of choice. That, and the fact that anyone changing the standard diffuser for one such as this is likely to be looking to make the car 'their own' anyhow - which may well extend to the colour(s)/finish of this custom part also.

Perhaps 2 options may be the way forward - (gloss?) black or primed ready for alternate colour(s)/finish?

What do you all think?

What I would add is that it is very easy to fit - it simply clips into the existing slots in the bumper and is then secured underneath by 3 screws - in exactly the same way as the OEM part.
As such, makes for an easy DIY job, although also recognise that not everyone would have the time/inclination/confidence to fit it themselves.
