stick with OEM k04s then anything bigger will have significant lag. that's a fact.

christ, 9 pages of going round and round

hes already used RS6 turbos, and is happy with them, so little sense going smaller.

Personally, i'd be simply nailing the RS6 turbos back in, unclipped, with the stock compressor wheels. They'll make more power anyway by virtue of the RS4 engine.

If they need a refurb, then a mild compressor wheel bump wont hurt much and will give a wee bit extra at the top if you feel you must. The 2280 is only a smidge larger than stock, and is a more modern design etc.

Going too big (2283 or K16 turbine etc etc) will only serve to exacerbate the lag, raise the boost threshold and make the car less pleasant to drive normally. Personally, i think that the extra power gained from going bigger simply wouldnt make up for the poorer low down performance. Your generally driving in the 2-4k range far far more than your driving in the 5-7k range.

Its not a massive difference in the wheel very marginally smaller.

Wont get to 700 with that spec. Adams is the one i know thats got 2283 and his is just shy by 20 or so and hes got loba cams and inlet and all sorts.

But its not just that dude. Id like to get some decent figures but im chasing a power goal at the expense of drivability and real world performance lower down the rev range.

Its a fine balancing act thats for sure and there is so many variables in the mix.[/quote]

Think it's more of a matter of adjusting individual driving style and adapting your behaviour on driving these things when not stock

You will always have driveablity it's best to get a boost controller to mange it around town stop-start driving to autobahn,drag/track,race mode settings available you shouldn't have a problem.

Anyway your car will be awesome look forward to the figures so this can be updated

http://www.myaudis4.com/2015/11/09/tte-550-vs-tte-600/

Just for refrence for power figures achieved on b5 rs4 with tte600 which is rs6 turbo with assuming 2280 wheel which ko4 tte550 uses.

Boost profile TTe780 vs oem RS6, Both on E85, the same car, same strech of road and conditions.
As you see there is not so much more lag between them.
This is 2.7L

FpTQ at Wheels they develop in those runs.

For NM at flywheel - multiply by 1.36 and at 18 - 20% tranny loss.

here you go. turbo dynamics rs6 stage 2 with clipped turbine and s3 tfsi compressor wheel , think that's the 2283. this is a 3.0 engine so a bit less laggy than a 2.7 but not much. ill see if I can find a plot of these turbos on my blue car when it was a 2.7
