Centenary Celebration Of Audi's Origins At Goodwood

The ‘Four Rings’ Returns To Goodwood To Mark Its First 100 Years

Milton Keynes – Audi is the “featured marque” at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July – the spectacular annual event that is to be staged just days before the German manufacturer celebrates its Centenary.

Taking “centre stage” with the main display in front of Goodwood House, Audi will use Lord March’s World class motorsport extravaganza to commemorate that its origins were laid 100 years ago on 16 July 1909.

Audi R15 TDI: first “second” generation diesel racing sports car

    * Audi launches new LMP1 racing sports car
    * New TDI engine and many innovative approaches
    * Race debut on March 21 at Sebring (USA)

Ingolstadt – AUDI AG is the world’s first automobile manufacturer to develop a "second” generation diesel racing sports car. Audi aims to underline its supremacy and consolidate its expertise in car technology once more at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans with the all-new Audi R15 TDI.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is particularly suited for this: Efficient and economical cars are especially required for the French endurance classic. Lightweight construction, environmentally friendly drive concepts and well-thought out aerodynamics are the focus of attention at Le Mans just as they are during the development of production cars. For this purpose the regulations intentionally give the engineers plenty of freedom.

Audi Sport fully exploited this creative freedom and put a new LMP1 race car on the track that differs significantly from all previous Le Mans sports cars. "The R15 TDI has many detailed technical solutions never seen before on a sports prototype,” explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. "To a certain extent we followed entirely new routes.”

The Audi TT RS: Sporty Powerhouse with Five Cylinders

    * This top model will debut at the Geneva Auto Show
    * Direct gasoline injection and a turbocharger deliver far more than 300 bhp
    * Top-notch chassis, big brakes, and quattro drivetrain

Audi is once again producing a five-cylinder powerhouse: the Audi TT RS will be unveiled to the world at the Geneva Auto Show. Its turbocharged 2.5-liter engine produces well above 300 bhp. It also delivers explosive acceleration, driving delight, and unrivalled sound.

A legend is reborn. After all, powerful five-cylinder gasoline engines have a long legacy at Audi. And the turbocharged direct-fuel-injection engine in the TT RS is the new torchbearer of this dynamic tradition. It enables the TT RS to perform extraordinary feats. For example, it needs nowhere near five seconds to reach 100 km/h (62.14 mph); overtaking is child’s play; and 250 km/h (155.34 mph) is the limited top speed only on paper.

The quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, a sophisticated chassis, and stupendous brakes keep a tight rein on the power. All in all, the compact TT RS – with its lightweight and largely aluminum body constructed as per the Audi Space Frame principle – is a driving machine to be reckoned with.

Audi Driver International 2008 at Castle Combe

Saturday 11th October 2008 saw AudiSRS attend Audi Driver International. In its fledgling year, the stand was excepionally well attended with over 30 cars.

Running alongside this, and with so many using the track, we chose to raise funds for charity by offering passenger laps. With some input from the benefitting charities, this was organised with the donations split between MacMillan Cancer Care and National Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Children, NSPCC.

Cars displayed on the stand included S2, S3, S4, RS2, RS4 & RS6 models, all of which were presented to the highest standards even though some had travelled long distances to the event. A testament to the owners, and a proud badge for AudiSRS.com.

The weather was warm and sunny, which helped encourage more to venture out on track and it was good to see Ur quattros, NSU's and other forms of Audi models on track all day. Even better to see some of the old Auto Union motorbikes out on track during the lunchtime demonstration laps. Most of the members took part in these, affording kids and others an opportunity to view the track from the car rather than the other side of the fence.

Some twenty passengers took part in the charity laps, donating to the nominated charities, over £500 has been raised so far and this figure is still rising. The day was a success on all counts, a great social event for the forum with an excellent attendance, lots of things to see & do, track time available & especially memorable when AudiSRS won the Gold award at the Gala Dinner for the most informative Club/Website.

Book your spaces early for next year when we will be back, bigger and better with more activities organised and some more fund raising for worthy causes.

Faster, further, more agile: the new Audi S4 and S4 Avant are well-trained athletes. Their new engine, the 3.0 TFSI, combines the power of 245 kW (333 hp) with an astonishingly low fuel consumption of 9.7 (Avant: 9.9) liters per 100 km (24.25 US mpg or 23.76 US mpg for the Avant). The quattro permanent four-wheel drive system ensures practically loss-free transfer of this power to the road; a sports suspension and a high-performance brake system control it reliably. The dynamic look outside and in, together with the generous range of standard equipment, underline the exclusive character of both new S models from Audi.
