Hello everyone,
among other things that i have planned to do on the car this march i wanted t take the bilsteins off for a service. Now i have the possibility to change them from 'sport' to 'sprint' option by inserting the specific bilstein clamps inside the tubes to give the shorter run than what the sports have.
I also have some modified OEM springs that sit 15mm lower from a certified shop in Leeds.
I basically want the car to sit slightly lower than what it is now, but not the full 30mm that HRs give. So my options are:
1) Service the Bilsteins, leave them on sport and fit the 15mm lower springs
2) Service the bilsteins, make them sprint and keep the OEM RS2 springs
3) Do sprints+ 15mm lower springs.
The only thing that i am not sure is how low excactly will the car end up with the 15mm lower OEM springs, as it has never been tried before. Also on a couple of occasions i may have bottomed the bilsteins on a big dip on the road.
I think option 3 is the lowest and im in between the 1 and 2. By keeping the shocks in their full length of use and putting lowering springs, it is the same as anyone would do if they were fitting HRs etc.
Has anyone ever tried option 1?
thanks

what did you do to your RS2 springs? On my old S2 i had it lowered on RS2 dampers with H&R's, sitting 30mm lower. It looked great but dont fancy lowering the RS2 30mm it looks stupid IMHO.
The S2 coupe can get away with that lowered look but an RS2 Avant looks stupid.
If i were you i'd service the bilsteins and leave them on sport.
cheers

i have the rs2 springs as normal. I just happen to have a second set of RS2 springs which i had modified and was thinking of trying out.
but i dont think you are far off. I think i will just keep it as it is. |

thats with HRs and from what i hear even for UK standards, HRs are being harsh after a few years of use. Thats why i was aiming for an in between compromise. |

My S2 is on RS2 shocks with S2 H&R springs, and it rides fine!
Infact, everyone that has been in it has commented how good/better than they expected the ride is considering how low it sits

I should add, when I got the car it was running RS2 shocks, and the ride was a lot more harsh than with the H&R's!
H&R's are not a harsh ride atall |

I agree that one looks bad, Id put that down to the wheels being too small compared to the amount its been lowered |

Funnily enough, Ive got this pic of mine after the H&R's were fitted, with original wheels!
It looks totally wrong compared to the one I posted earlier
