Fixing a clutch on an S3 which had been given to some complete clowns to fit. 150 quid labour.. need i say more for a gearbox that has an awkward transfer box and isnt easy to get off at the best off at the best of times. Everything that needed to be torqued up basically undid itself when looking at them and silly stuff like brackets here and there had been put on by geoff capes.

Then the clutch leaves alot to be desired.

Has anybody ever seen this though? The pressure plate has three cutouts from it (for no immediately apparent reason in my eyes) which significantly reduces the contact between surface area of the friction material on nearly half of the swept area. In an on off fashion with sharp edges also???

Look here. I had to double take at first as i thought it had been dropped and broken off. However they are all the same and the casting marks continue down to the edge...

The grooves will be there to help to clear the clutch powder away.
Same as grooved brake disks.

Looks like the centre plate is the wrong diameter, looks too big for the pressure plate.

not the grooves dude the 'missing chunks' from the outer circumference

Yes it does mikey-s. Even without the missing chunks it looks like a mismatched combo
