Hello all - been through the S4 experience - engine rebuild, respray etc and loved it. Thinking about a move to the RS2 - wondering how hard they are to pin down for sale, ownership opinions, prices etc.

In my experience, and believe me i have tried !! the hardest thing is to A-find a car for sale and B- find a sensible, honest seller !
I have been messed around something like you would not believe trying to buy said car, many out there have 'history' so be very wary of face value ads/comments. Double check all history for yourself,S2forum is the place to go look/ask etc,
Great cars though and definately an icon.
Good luck in your search.

Thanks lads - what's the ballpark price on one? Looking to pick on up in the new year.

Very mileage/condition/history dependant but broadly you wont get one for sub 10k anymore but anywhere up to 15k 'should' get a sensible car !

Good luck with that! £15k wont buy even the roughest of cars these days. The market has taken off on these big time it would seem. Cheapest available today is £30k up to £105k!!

Having owned one I feel gutted selling it for a fraction of what market value is now,  I saw one in Aberdeen that is listed on classic cars a red rs2 asking for 25k the car is all stock would need a respray. I loved being around them the buzz you get. A s2 avant is even more rare and will only go up in value,  I went to view one in Glasgow was soo tempted but reality sank in,  harder to get parts everything is expensive for the smallest piece. So had to walk away,  ended up getting a b5 instead. My cousin has a pearl white one he might sell been heavily loved and upgraded.

Oops yes just noticed, apologies! Just shows how they have shot up in such a short period of time! At least doubled in fact.

Ha ! no worries, the RS2 ship has indeed sailed. Ive been saying for ages that it was unbelievable how prices hadnt moved, lets face it the Rs2 is as rare as anything car wise, has the Porsche connection,5 pot. Quattro, arguably the first of the super estates etc etc. The jump in value was long overdue.

I used to own B5 RS4 for many years and purchased the RS2 few years ago. No doubt the RS4 is more refined and very nice/easy to drive. The rs2 has loads of turbo lag and is very sluggish at low rpm relatively. However my opinion is that the build quality of the rs2 is very old school German and I really like it.  The 5 pot has its very unique and additive note.  I kept both for some time but finally sold the rs4.

I have both at the moment and love them both equally - it would be really hard to choose between the two if I had to sell one of them.

There's a silver one for sale at a dealers near me for a tad under £30k, it does look tidy.

A noggy sold a few weeks ago on the S2 forum, known car with the history you would want and that went for £35k within a day or so of the ad going up.

For me to justify those prices I'd have to hide it away for sunny day use and I'd hate that. These cars should be used and enjoyed.

The best example I've seen was the pearl example that Nick Johnson was selling and very low miles.
