Sounds like it. Does the software see the lead? I'm sure it gives a different output if the lead is there or not there.

well i guess the first thing to try is to use normal VCDS and see if it will talk to the instrument cluster

I had the same prob while working to the TT

I ended up googling it and going through a process which enable Vagtacho to recognise lead correctly.

I've tried to find link I used but no success atm, but trust me it can be done.

I've never had success with vag commander or vag tacho reading cluster pins, iv read ecu pins though, I also couldn't find the pin in the EEPROM chip on my PFL, but could find it in the 2.4 Audi Ecu I had from the engine I stripped, are you the fella that I picked the seats up from?

Thanks to Kevin for getting me the 4 digit pin. Just an update..
Plugged cluster in, matched it to ecu, then matched keys using cluster pin.

Got it started

Noticed the immobiliser light on cluster remained on and that remote function on fob wasnt actually working.

Started it againow.  Immobiliser light remained on but car started.

Came back from work and tried it again and immobiliser is back on

Guy from garage with VCDS said I need the control code from old cluster but haven't been able to communicate with that cluster to get it out. I'm sure I don't need that and I must have missed a step in adaptation perhaps?

I had exact same problem on the TT

Ben eventually sorted it by removing the immobiliser chip in the ecu and deleted the software out of it.

I'm not that fussed about the lack of immobiliser on the TT but you may have diff views for your car.

read fault codes from cluster and ECU and see whats going on.

Is the DIS working?

Some keys cant be reprogrammed to a new car. I've had that happen a few times, and a new blank transponder was needed. Yet many other times its worked perfectly.

The fob remote is completely separate to the IMMO, remote talks to the central locking system only.

Also, you probably should have paired the keys first, then paired the ECU.

I used a epprom reader software using a vcds cable (should find a post on this somewhere) to decode working dis cluster with old code for immo but if you get a Ecu with de-immo you should be fine. Not 100% but I'm sure will work.

This was done on T reg semi lift

The key as Aragon said new key cut with fresh transponder and you should be there.

Defo try with a new virgin ID48
Had loads of trouble recently with immo's and every time it was to do with old transponder chips. Changed for a new one and worked straight away.

My noggys key transponder isnt working tried coding key in with vcds but assuming dead battery in fob too il give that a try

Do you know if a facelift fob and transponder will work with the Boot release feature with a pre facelift via remote.
