Well I've been looking in to one of these a lot lately, I've gone off the idea of the other choices and they are now at the top of the list.
I'm hoping to look at a couple this weekend just for an idea of whether it's as good as I'm expecting.  looking around the earlier cars so 15 plate, suprislingly it looks like the cars in the Audi network are as well priced if not better than some of the prestige independent dealers, some of that maybe be spec though?
So whats it going to cost me, what's an average for a service? How frequent are big services (cambelt etc)? What's mpg like? I know there's many variables but just thought I'd ask if the quoted is anything like achievable

It's going to have a fairly easy time as a daily for the good lady so I'm hoping it's not going to chew through consumables, tyres etc

Any must haves on the extras? I think I've set myself up looking for a modest spec. Between us we'd ideally like
Nardo grey, Black styling pack, Titanium wheels, S/S seats in Silver leather, Sports exhaust , Pan roof.
I imagine the list is endless but I can't really say I'd miss anything given that I'm used to driving older cars anyway so I'm not really up on all the tech

Finally, a moment of honesty would be good to hear, anything that gets on your nerves?

Will report back when I've had a look

Hi Ruxy

The best person here to speak to that I know is Jose DeBardi who's had his 8V for over a year.  I'd PM him.

But, my son has the 8P model, so I can offer a little advice, as some will still be applicable I guess - similar engine.

No timing belt, these are chain driven.  Dealer prices will vary for a service and all will have 'RS tax' applied.  I was £309 just for a lube sevice (A3 1.4 turbo was £126) and they did very little that was any different apart from oil,  Full service was quoted at £479.  'Consumables' are no better or worse than any comparible car if driven sensibly.

Motor is the best part about these, it's been very reliable over the last 20k and sounds the business.  New ones now 400ps so must be ballistic.  Averages about 25mpg but can squeeze low 30's if you drive it like Miss Daisy.  Likewise, if you hammer it........!

Rear Diff went at 55k, no idea why, but always stay in warranty, it cost Audi warranty £3k to put right.

Highly recommend though, great car and I'm sure the 8V is even better!

I just bought one and they are amazing cars.

Your spec is pretty much on point but I'd also opt for the following:

Technology pack
Dynamic pack

The only main issue is the front brake discs but you can upgrade these which isn't much of an issue.

Speak to Apex Performance cars based up North, they always have the best RS3's in stock and they'll do you a good deal!
