Any B5 2.7tt guru's out there?

Basically the car is currently getting mapped but the fella is having trouble writing to the ECU? It's been mapped in the past (poorly) and I just want rid of this as the map is damaging to the engine.

Anyone came across this before? I've heard of other tuners "write protecting" the ECU after mapping. Only trouble is there is no record of the map in the extensive history I have, I've contacted the previous owner who also didn't have it mapped.

Any ideas?

Cheers
