its one of them unwritten rules i think for a build thread. got to keep people guessing on the colour.

ive told a couple of people but only because know it could change literally right up until the last minute.

Fair play to you dude, it will be amazing regardless! Inspiring stuff

Ok just for you Akis seen as i appreciate your support for the project!

So i hope this car will be a keeper. Obviously thats why im putting the amount of time into it etc that i am. Hopefully one day in the future they might reach almost RS2 like status not quite but you know what i mean.

I've kept my MK2 Golf that i restored for years now. This will join the fleet of toys. And i hope that i can add a porka turbo at least that i will modify one day.

That leaves you with a difficult decision of what colour do you paint it if you want to keep it forever. I love all crazy colours that you could paint them but I need something that i can still look at in 5 /10 / 20 years time and not think... 'why the f*ck did i paint it that colour'.

So for me it needs to fit in with my maybe quite bland colour scheme. However, i just love cars that just look mean. Blacks, whites, reds if your being extravagant and greys.

I've got a red car in my MK2 i painted that Porsche guards red. Had a little dream that id paint this the same and it would match the 911 in a few years time.. three cars all the same colour scheme but very different. Then i thought jesus christ thats a boring idea. Plus the flat red doesnt do much for the lovely phat curves on these cars i dont think.

I didnt want black as you can buy them in black originally. I didnt want to keep it avus despite Simons looking really well in a nice fresh coat of avus.

Silver?? Im not a massive fan of silver.. what looks similar to silver but meaner?... Grey...

Hmmm mineral? Looked amazing on Jamos/Simons that unfortunately got stolen. Plus id like something not on the original options. Many lovely greys Ferrari for one. But knew it had to be from the VAG list of paints.

So thought hmmm Lamborghini do a lovely grey that looks amazing thats allowed being owned by VAG. Looks very similar to a more modern Audi colour also??? Anyway rant over after checking the paint formulas it is exactly the same colour...

Lamboghini Grigio Lynz = Audi Daytona Grey

Available on the latest RS models so its a nice modern touch. Plus its a crazy pearl in the light but moody otherwise...

Ah thanks for sharing your thought process, I can totally relate to the not wanting a colour that was an original option - it was something I felt too when my WB was done. It's funny you mention Porsche guards red as you mentioned it as a candidate for your WB back in the build thread and I had an inkling it must have crossed your mind!

That grey looks really smart though and on an RS I imagine it would do the curves justice and also give that subtle aggression.

As you say, it can change up until the last minute. I was 99% sold on Suzuka grey for mine right up until it stayed it's factory silver! But yeah phenomenal work dude and such a great build thread to follow, whatever you decide the effort you have put in at these early stages will mean you will love it no matter what shade is chosen.

Superb

In case any of you geeks like me want to know the composition of the paint. Explains why this darkish grey goes so crazy in the sunlight...

No way! On a car and colour like this black optics are a must. Really, they are. It'll look much much meaner with them.  But then you did say you have a slight twist, so I look forward to seeing what it is.

And damn, that colour looks great. Do you have a time frame when all the panels will be back together and a set of wheels to see the body in all its glory?

It looks amazing mate. Agreed that Black Optics are not the way to go with this colour as it would be too dark. Guessing it's not aluminium either but looking forward to what you've got up your sleeve

Absolutely magnificent. "Almost" to good to drive. When it's all done, a link to a hi res picture would be really appreciated.
